I took this on the tarmac before departing for my 2006 deployment overseas, the halogen lighting and high ISO turned out to be a great combination. I remember that when I was lining up for this shot a lot of my enlisted friends took cue and started to snap away, but came under fire by some of the other officers. I went to bat for them, but ended up getting hassled after I boarded the jet. I think in the end it was well worth the effort.

Vegas has some incredible sunrises, along with just about any other extremely dry climate, so it was a nice surprise to catch these clouds rolling off the field. I snapped this shot just as we were about to get back on the jet and head back to Robins AFB and am really glad that I had my SLR on me, right place right time!

This is a shot of my cousin York, who lives in the Outer Banks along with the rest of my family. The kid loves the water and being outside and you shouldn't bother trying to bring him in until the sun goes down. I shot this with a dated telephoto lens that I bring to the beach and after a little bit of photoshopping it turned out pretty well.

I sat underneath the Capitol for just about two hours to get this shot, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Waiting for that time right before the sun completely disappears can be trying, but patience pays off! The contrast between the sky and the dome is spectacular and the starbursts from the lights really add to the dimensionality of the image. Surprisingly, there is not much Photoshop here besides color control and selective sharpening and blurring (the night sky tends produce a lot of noise).
